Particularities of this farm
The farm and it’s surroundings
Dairy Farm Banenburg is a mixed farm with 60 dairy cows,
beef cattle and various fields including corn, potatoes and cauliflower. The dairy cows are in the surrounding fields during summer and are being milked twice a day. The beef is in the nature reserve of Vrouwenpolder further away and remains there for most of the summer. Nice to have a look during your bike tour from the farm to the beach.
Wir empfehlen einen Tagesausflug in die historischen Städte Middelburg, Vlissingen und Zierikzee. In der Nähe gibt es außerdem einen Pferdemilchhof, eine Straußenfarm und den Freizeitpark "Neeltje Jans".
The Area
The farm is situated on a quiet country road between Middelburg and Veere in a central location on the island of Walcheren which is also known as the 'Garden of Zeeland' because of the varied landscape. There are several natural parks, a water abstraction, some strips forest, farmland with various crops and pastures where cows graze. This diversity is also reflected at the farm. For instance, the 60 cows on the meadows around the farm, there are the arable land which have been planted with corn, potatoes and cauliflower and the area is rounded off by a creek that once flowed deep within the island and has a direct connection to Middelburg and Veere. Traditionally, Zeeland and water are inextricably linked and the sea remains to this day important. Thus the Veersemeer is only 2.5 km from the farm and you can make excellent sailing and fishing trips from the town of Veere. The famous North Sea beaches of Vrouwenpolder and Domburg are only 15 minutes away by bike. The dunes around these coastal villages are definitely worthwhile. For those who want a day out the historic towns of Middelburg, Vlissingen and Zierikzee can be recommended, but also a visit to the museum Neeltje Jans or a visit to an ostrich farm or equine is possible.
The tents
The tents are on the west side of the farm in a sheltered area.
